Letters From Arizona is a series inspired by a photographs taken in 1980's by Joseph Anthony Babinsky (Joe), my paternal father. Joe was largely absent from my life grown up and into adulthood. Occasionally throughout my childhood, Joe would mail me his photography and write notes on the back of the paper photos. I treasured these photographs as they were some of my few possessions that connected me to him. When Joe died June 15, 2021 I begun drawing from his photographs as a way to open and channel my grief.
